Lisen Adbåge

For me, drawing is a bit like cooking. All colors taste differently and I compose pictures like dishes with various spices. Sometimes it gets spicy and sometimes a little milder. I like food that has a little of everything, maybe it shows in the pictures? Black is the best seasoning, it always emphasizes the other flavors! Green is the toughest one, the one I use least. It’s like the pallet’s coriander.

Lisen Adbåge, born in Linköping in 1982, is an illustrator and writer. She published her first picture book, Ellen & Bebis (Ellen & Baby), with Eriksson & Lindgren in 2000. Among her own best-known books there are those about Kurt and Kio, Big-Emma and Koko and Bosse. Lisen has also illustrated other authors’ texts and contributed in several anthologies. Together with Petter Lidbeck she won 2004 the Bokjuryn 1st prize for Kan man...? (Can you...?) and in 2014 she received with Grethe Rottböll the same prize again for Hästfesten (The Horse Party). Lisen was among the 31 illustrators who represented Sweden at the Children's Book Fair in Bologna in 2013.
