I grab my faithful ballpoint pen, press it on the paper and then off we go. We look, we look after, we examine. We do a lot together and reach a little further each time. My pen and I quite often discover something new. It’s fun and I can’t stop."
Emelie Östergren, born in 1982, was educated at the Konstfack University College of Arts, Crafts and Design in Stockholm. Her comics and illustrations have been published both in Sweden and abroad, among others in the American magazine The Believer.
She is known for her books Evil Dress and Duke and His Army - A Dream Revisited and has recently released the picture book Hemligheten (The Secret) together with Åsa Lind. In September 2014 she made her debut as a children's book author with Elefantstenen (The Elephant Stone), published by Urax Förlag. Emelie was among the 31 illustrators who represented Sweden at the Children's Book Fair in Bologna in 2013.
